NEW COLLEGE OXFORD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

New College is one of Oxford's grandest wedding backdrops — a fourteenth-century chapel, a cloister that's barely changed in six hundred years, and gardens tucked so deep into the city most guests won't quite believe they're still in Oxford. It's the kind of place where the architecture does half the work before I've even raised a camera.

A thoughtful approach to your day

My approach to photographing a New College wedding is simple. Be present. Keep it honest. Make it right without turning it into a performance.

Whether it's the quiet of the morning, the ceremony in the chapel, or the last of the light in the cloisters, I photograph the day as it actually feels — not just how it looks. The energy of the room, the nerves, the joy, the calm.

When direction is useful, I give it gently. When a moment deserves space, I step back and let it happen. The goal is never to take over the day; it's to document it with clarity, care, and a strong sense of place.

On the day, I'm quiet, calm, and easy to have around. Couples often tell me they forgot I was there for long stretches, which I take as the highest compliment.

The result is a set of New College wedding photographs that feel refined, emotional, and true to you.

About New College

New College was founded in 1379 by William of Wykeham, and its chapel seats 200. The college says chapel weddings are for current and former members, plus some staff and school families, so for most couples the connection comes first and the wedding follows.

The chapel is licensed for Church of England marriages only, not civil ceremonies, and there is no full reception. The college offers drinks and canapés in the cloisters for an hour after the service. Dates are limited and booked well ahead, so contact the Chapel Administrator early: new.ox.ac.uk/chapel

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Oxfordshire?
Pricing depends on hours of coverage, day-of assistance and albums. Visit the Wedding Day page for full details.

Do you photograph weddings outside Oxfordshire?
Yes. I regularly travel into the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire, and further afield for the right couple.

How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for weekend dates at popular Oxfordshire venues. Early enquiries are always welcome.

Do you offer engagement shoots in Oxfordshire?
Yes, an Oxfordshire engagement shoot is included in most packages, a relaxed way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the day itself.

What's your photography style?
Documentary and honest. I capture the day as it unfolds rather than directing every moment, with a calm, unobtrusive presence throughout.
