Why a film at all

Some couples want to hear it as well as see it.

The laughing at the back of the church. The slightly too long speech. The dance floor at ten o'clock, when everyone has stopped worrying about how they look.

So alongside the photographs, I film the day as it happens and cut it into a three-to-five-minute film, plus two or three short vertical edits for sharing. The short edits come within a week. The film follows with your gallery.

It's made the same way I photograph: quietly, from the edges, without asking anyone to walk towards me again. There's no second crew, no rig, no lights on stands.

It isn't a full wedding film with every vow and speech in full. If that's what you want, a dedicated videographer is the right call, and I'm happy to recommend one.

35mm film for the romance, digital for the documentary truth of it all. And now a few minutes of it moving.

Shaped for your phone.

If you've been looking at wedding content creators, this is my version of it, and it comes with the film. Two or three short edits of the day, delivered within a week, for sharing before the gallery lands or sending to the aunt who couldn't make it. They're cut from the same footage, so there's no extra person following you round with a phone.

Questions

The things people ask.

Can we book the film without the photography?
No. The film is made alongside the photographs, by the same person, so it only comes with a photography booking.
Will you film our vows and speeches in full?
No. You'll hear pieces of them in the film where the sound is clean, but I don't record them start to finish. If having every word matters to you, a dedicated videographer is the better fit, and I can suggest a couple.
Does filming take anything away from the photographs?
The photographs come first. I film in the gaps: getting ready, drinks, the walk between places, the evening. At the moments that matter most, I'm holding a stills camera.
When do we get it?
The short edits within a week. The film arrives with your gallery, which is usually two to four weeks after the wedding.
Why only five hours or more for the film?
Below that there isn't enough of the day to make a film from. For a shorter booking, like a registry office morning, the photographs on their own are the better buy.
